The Wild Fork

For Jeanie's birthday we went back to The Wild Fork for lunch in Utica Square. We had tried to call ahead for reservations but they wouldn't take them. And when I arrived at 11:45 and asked for a table for 6 they advised it would be an hour wait or they could seat on the patio immediately. Fortunately it was a beautiful day and the patio warmed up the longer we sat out there, so it all worked out OK. The service was very attentive and helpful.

The girls were split on ordering the Roasted Chicken Salad and the Mediterranean Burger. Victoria added a cup of the soup of the day, Mushroom. She shared a bit and it was wonderful. A nice creamy base with lots of slices of mushrooms. The flavor was very rich and I described as "Thanksgiving". It must have had some sage and chicken broth to it because it was a great meld of all those warm flavors that go with the holiday. Very good!

I switched it up and tried the Red Cornmeal Crusted Chicken with mashed potatoes. It was really good. This comes with a black bean puree that asked them to hold, but also came with a chunky pico de gallo that gave a nice color to the plate and a kick of flavor. The chicken was crisp on the outside with good seasoning and was moist on the inside. I would definitely have it again. And I would recommend that you give The Wild Fork a try soon. Get the Mushroom Soup if it is on special, it is wonderful.
