SoChey Jazz Cafe

Judy and I had both heard about SoChey and wanted to give it a try for lunch. Located on South Cheyenne in downtown Tulsa, it's just a stone's throw from the front doors of the new BOk Center. This was Pomodori's until recently and they have kept a lot of the dining area very similar with the notable exception of jazz themed art and jazz playing on the sound system. Our waitress was very friend and took good care of us.

They had a nice lunch menu that included a good variety of salads, sandwiches and some pasta entrees. Judy had the grilled cheese panini with tomato basil soup and homemade potato chips. Judy thought the panini was good but kinda average but the chips and soup really stood out. The potato chips were really crisp and crunchy and had a nice cajun type seasoning dusted on them which gave them just a bit of a spiciness. She shared some of these and the soup which was really delicious. It was creamy with a rich tomato flavor and a good balance of basil. It reminded us both of one of our favorite places to hit in Dallas, La Madeleine and their incredible tomato basil soup. There is a bit more cream in the La Madeleine version which gives it a pink hue where this was a much brighter red. It was a nice contrast in color when plated with the golden bread and chips.

I had a really nice flatbread with chicken, artichokes, roasted red peppers and a bit of melted parmesan cheese. This was a really nice sized portion and had lots of flavor. It was served over a nice rich balsamic glaze which really enhanced the flavor of the chicken and the flatbread. I did add a bit of salt and pepper to bring up the chicken a bit, but it didn't need much.

There were several business people there from the downtown offices and I bet they have great crowds when there are events at the BOk Center. They had a sign out front indicating they also book private parties. I think this would be a great space for an event.

The lunch menu was creative and had a focus on good fresh ingredients and interesting flavor combinations. I am anxious to try them for dinner and recommend that you give them a try too.
